Feelings are generous after an hour of generating. A frame that thrilled you at midnight can look ordinary at breakfast, and a frame you nearly deleted can turn out to be the keeper. So judging at this desk is a routine, not a mood: two minutes, three passes, the base card in hand.
First pass, identity. Read the card lines against the frame โ age read, hair, build, face, signature. Any line that fails ends the judging there; the frame is culled whatever else it has going for it. Second pass, construction. Hands, edges, joins, the places where generated frames quietly break. Third pass, feeling โ and only now is feeling allowed a vote, choosing between frames that already passed the first two.
The routine is timed because untimed judging expands. A frame that needs ten minutes of persuasion is a frame arguing against the card, and the card is the senior partner. Cull it, and let the next job carry the lesson: usually the changing line asked for too much at once.
Kept frames are marked against the card they were judged by. When a series is assembled weeks later, the record shows which card every keeper passed โ and a series with a paper trail is a series that can be extended without starting over.
